Phase 3 — Campus & Athletic Improvements

IDEA Weslaco Phase 3

Completion:

June 2027

Construction is scheduled to begin on the IDEA Weslaco Phase 3 project in May 2026. This project includes the construction of a new 26,761-square-foot building with high school classrooms, support offices, and a gymnasium. 

Planned improvements also include interior and exterior painting, HVAC equipment replacements, parking and driveway resurfacing, and enhanced landscaping. Site upgrades will add new sidewalks, exterior lighting, playground equipment, and a new soccer field with bleacher seating. 

These upgrades will support growing student enrollment and provide expanded spaces for academic and extracurricular programs. Construction is expected to continue through June 2027

IDEA Pharr Phase 3

Construction is scheduled to begin on the IDEA Pharr Phase 3 project in May 2026. This project includes the construction of a new 25,748-square-foot building with high school classrooms, support offices, and a gymnasium. 

Planned improvements also include interior and exterior painting, HVAC equipment replacements, parking and driveway resurfacing, and enhanced landscaping. Site upgrades will add new sidewalks, exterior lighting, playground equipment, and a new soccer field with bleacher seating. 

This project will create a dedicated high school learning environment while strengthening athletic and student activity programs. Construction is expected to continue through June 2027.

Construction is scheduled to begin on the IDEA Brownsville Phase 3 project in May 2026. This project includes the construction of a new 26,292-square-foot gymnasium and classroom wing, along with interior and exterior improvements across the campus. 

Planned interior upgrades include classroom renovations, interior painting, and HVAC system improvements. Exterior work will focus on improving parking areas, landscaping, and the development of a competition soccer field with a jogging trail and sports lighting. 

These improvements will expand athletic programming and provide students with upgraded classrooms designed to support college readiness and long-term success. Construction is expected to continue through June 2027.

IDEA North Mission Phase 3

Construction is scheduled to begin on the new gymnasium and campus improvements at IDEA North Mission in June 2026. This phase will include the development of a 12,953-square-foot gym, classroom renovations, HVAC upgrades, and interior painting.

Exterior work will include improvements to parking areas, landscaping, and the construction of a competition soccer field with a jogging trail and sports lighting.

These updates will strengthen athletic programming and enhance daily learning environments for students across grade levels. Construction is expected to continue through August 2027.

As one of the district’s largest Phase 3 projects, this expansion will significantly increase space for both academic instruction and competitive athletics. Construction is expected to continue through August 2027.

IDEA Henry Phase 1

IDEA Henry construction progress, Fall 2025

Project Overview
IDEA Henry Phase 1 is a new two-story campus serving families in the Permian Basin, adding approximately 80,000 sq ft of instructional and student support space. The campus includes high school classrooms, administrative offices, and student spaces, with full site infrastructure: utilities, paving, landscaping, irrigation, and safety systems.

Current Progress
Construction began April 2025 and is on schedule. Crews are actively working on structural systems, building enclosure, and interior finishes including mechanical, electrical, and fire protection.

Community Impact
This $32 million investment will provide Midland students with a learning environment that supports college readiness and career pathways.
