Pre-K Is Expanding at IDEA 

For some of our youngest students, the journey to and through college can now begin even earlier. IDEA Public Schools’ new full-day pre-K program is coming to 18 campuses for the 2027–2028 school year. The schools who will be offering pre-K are:

How to Apply 

Applying to IDEA is simple! 

Families interested in joining our Team & Family in the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, El Paso, Tarrant County, Permian Basin, Florida, and Cincinnati can complete a student application at ideapublicschools.org/apply.

Applications will be available for Texas schools on September 1. Campuses in Florida and Cincinnati will be able to submit applications beginning on October 15.  

The Lottery Process 

After you submit your application, your child will be entered into IDEA’s lottery process. The lottery randomly selects students to fill available seats at each IDEA school and will take place on February 20, 2027. 

If your child is selected, your family will receive an invitation to attend a Welcome to IDEA event! This is an opportunity to celebrate your child’s acceptance, meet members of your new school community, and learn more about IDEA’s culture, curriculum, and expectations. 

But that’s only the beginning! Families will also receive information about upcoming testing, registration, and enrollment events to officially prepare their child for their first day at IDEA.
