Behind every working laptop, connected classroom, and functioning projector is a team helping ensure technology is ready when students and staff need it.
This National Campus Technicians Day, IDEA Public Schools is celebrating the campus technicians who work behind the scenes to keep our schools connected and support teaching and learning every day.
For our campus technicians, no two days are the same. From supporting high school students with their one-to-one laptops to troubleshooting Chromebooks and other campus technology, their work requires them to be ready to solve whatever issue comes their way.
That variety is also part of what makes the role rewarding.
“My favorite thing is probably that we deal with different issues all the time,” Martha Garza said, campus technician at IDEA Los Encinos. “Sometimes it can get repetitive, but there’s always something new to learn.”
And while some technology problems may be more common than others, including the ever-familiar password reset, the impact of the work goes far beyond troubleshooting.
Campus technicians help make sure teachers have the tools they need to teach and students have access to the technology they need to learn. Whether it’s getting a projector back up and running or making sure laptops are working properly, their support helps keep the school day moving.
“I like to believe that my role helps not just the teachers and staff, but helps the kids get through to college,” Garza said. “Making sure that the projectors are working, that their laptops are working and the kids’ laptops are working helps them a lot in their day-to-day.”
It’s a reminder that behind every technical fix is a bigger purpose: helping create an environment where teachers can focus on teaching and students can focus on achieving their goals.
