Troy Enriquez is a proud native of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Enriquez was a classroom teacher for five years. He was then recruited to IDEA’s Principal in Residence Program. He served as a PIR and was eventually named the interim principal at IDEA Toros College Preparatory in South Texas. His school finished with a state-accredited A rating, and he is returning to El Paso to serve on our campus, focusing on instructional coaching and leadership development. Mr. Enriquez graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with BA’s in Government and History in May 2013. His commitment to education is derived from his experience as a Teach for America corp. member where he led as a department chair, working to improve student achievement outcomes and develop his team’s instructional capacity.
Nayeli Velasquez was born in Juarez, Mexico in an impoverished area. Her parents emigrated to the United States to provide a better future for their 3 children and were very clear that they had sacrificed their life in Mexico to make sure we received a quality education.
She earned Bachelor’s Degree in English and American Literature, with a minor in Linguistics. I earned a double masters, one in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Instructional Technology and the second in Administration. I am currently working on my doctorate in Transformational Leadership. Velasquez wants everyone to have and experience what she has, making a point to help family members and friends on their road to and through college. Today, she is proud to say that she is one of the reasons why my extended family found value in education. Velasquez says that finding IDEA was like a dream come true and that she is excited to be able to follow her passion of providing support and maintaining a college going culture at IDEA Mesa Hills College Prep. In her spare time, Velasquez enjoys partaking in “safe adrenaline”. She has jumped out of a plane, bungee jumped, hiked a glacier and gone white water rafting amongst other things. Her next adventure is to cage dive with great white sharks.
