IDEA Public Schools concluded its three days of 2026 College Signing Day events for our Rio Grande Valley seniors on May 22 at the McAllen Convention Center. For our morning event, 386 seniors from IDEA Brownsville, IDEA Elsa, IDEA Edinburg, IDEA Riverview, and IDEA Tres Lagos kicked us off with their college reveals. Later in the afternoon, 354 seniors from IDEA Donna, IDEA Alamo, IDEA Toros, IDEA Quest, and IDEA San Benito helped close us out on what was an amazing 2026 College Signing Day season! 

From both events combined, 20 Give Me 5 scholarships were awarded to students to help fund their college journeys. Generously donated by IDEA Team and Family members, its intention is to help prevent financial burdens being in the way of pursuing their higher education. 

From the morning event, the scholarship recipients were: Aurora Hernandez and Jennifer Zuniga from IDEA Brownsville, Ivan De Leo and Perla Bautista from IDEA Elsa, Edward Altamirano and Jenifer Perez from IDEA Edinburg, Natalie Reyes and Regina Moreno from IDEA Riverview, and Carson Nelson and Ethan Davis from IDEA Tres Lagos. Following that, our afternoon event recipients for the Give Me 5 scholarship were: Lindsay Infante and Francisco Lerma from IDEA Donna, Emily Morales and Karla Maldonado from IDEA Alamo, Tyler Vera and Willer Montesinos from IDEA Toros, Lizandra Vela and Lana Melendez from IDEA Quest, and Miah Cavazos and Angel Gonzalez from IDEA San Benito. 

With commitments to top universities such as Duke University, George Washington University, Brown University, College of the Holy Cross, University of Virginia, and many others, we cannot be prouder of our scholars! They are living proof that through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, pursuing a higher education is possible. Whether they decided to stay close to home or move across the country, we would like to wish all the graduating classes of 2026 across the IDEA district the best of luck this upcoming fall!
