Let the Celebrations Begin! Day One Recap of 2026 College Signing Day in the Rio Grande Valley

Since April, our regions with graduating senior classes have been participating in our annual College Signing Day events! College Signing Day is a day where dreams become a reality. It’s where several years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication all come together for our seniors, as they announce where they will be attending college in the fall. It’s where one chapter ends, and a new one begins.

This week, seniors from our Rio Grande Valley region will kick off three days of CSD events at the McAllen Convention Center. For our first day, 400 seniors from IDEA McAllen, IDEA Los Encinos, IDEA Mission, and IDEA Weslaco took the stage.

In total, 10 scholarships were awarded to seniors from these campuses. Recipients of the Give Me 5 scholarship, funded by donations from the IDEA Team and Family included the following seniors: Robin Suner and Julia Larrazabel from IDEA McAllen, Abril Reynoso and Nicole Trevino from IDEA Los Encinos, Ximena Villarreal and Leily Alvarez from IDEA Mission, and Emily Ramirez Garcia and Sophia Gomez. Additionally, Cheyenne Closner from IDEA Weslaco received the McGriff scholarship, and Angela Sanchez received IDEA’s Al and Judy Lopez scholarship.

Seniors from these classes committed to the nation’s top colleges, including Boston University, Columbia University, University of Texas at Austin, Northeastern University, Rice University, and more.

2026 College Signing Day events continue this week on May 21 and May 22, with four more events of college reveals and scholarships. We look forward to continuing celebrating our graduating seniors from IDEA Rio Grande Valley and we invite you to join us! Be sure to tune in to the livestream on our website. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for all the latest CSD 2026.
