Bright Futures in the Bayou: IDEA Louisiana’s 2025 College Signing Day

Continuing with our 2025 College Signing Day events, on May 7 we celebrated our graduating seniors at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library.

The region proudly celebrated 62 seniors from the campuses IDEA Bridge and IDEA Innovation. This graduating class sent out over 572 college applications and received over 222 acceptances from colleges and universities across the country.

At our College Signing Day event in Baton Rouge, five seniors were awarded with scholarship funds to help start their journeys to and through college.

The first recipients received the Give Me 5 scholarship, amounting to $8,000 per student, which was funded through generous donations made by Team and Family members. The recipients of this scholarship were Ray Melancon, Micayla Johnson, Kedric Henry, and Ruben Esteban.

In a tribute to the legacy of IDEA Public Schools’ former Board Chair and Acting CEO, the family of Al Lopez honors one senior in each region with a scholarship award in his memory. This year’s recipient was Malaysia Battley from IDEA Bridge.

Seniors from IDEA Louisiana’s class of 2025 have been accepted into the top universities like Louisiana State University, University of Houston, Florida State University, and Southern University and A&M College.

We would like to thank all our IDEA Louisiana families who participated in our event in person or by joining our live feed.

The celebration isn’t over yet! To round out our 2025 College Signing Day events, we will be celebrating 1,621 seniors from our Rio Grande Valley region May 14-16.
