Ensuring Every Scholar Has Access to Nutritious Meals at IDEA

At IDEA Public Schools, we are committed to ensuring every scholar has access to nutritious, high-quality meals each day. As the federal government shutdown continues, we want to provide families with important updates and resources related to school meals and food assistance programs.

School Meals Will Continue
Children who receive breakfast, lunch, or supper through IDEA’s school nutrition programs will continue to be served as normal through the remainder of October. Meals will remain free for all scholars, and our supper program will continue to operate at no cost for all children 18 years and younger.

If the federal government shutdown extends for a prolonged period, there is a chance that reimbursement payments to school nutrition programs could be delayed. While this may eventually impact menu options or food availability, IDEA Public Schools is closely monitoring the situation and working with state and federal partners to ensure meal service continues uninterrupted for as long as possible.

We know that many families in our communities are facing additional challenges due to the shutdown. Food insecurity can create significant stress, and we want to help connect families to additional support.
