This week, 25 of IDEA Public Schools’ high schools were ranked among the top 10% of more than 24,100 high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, five of our high schools were ranked among the Top 1% in the Nation.
For seventeen consecutive years, IDEA Public Schools has been represented on this annual list of rankings. This accomplishment reflects the hard work and dedication of our teachers, leaders, and staff showcase every day for our scholars. The U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best High School rankings include data on nearly 24,000 public high schools in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Rankings are based on performance on state assessments and how well students are prepared for college. These factors include College Readiness (30%); College Curriculum Breadth (10%); State Assessment Proficiency (20%); State Assessment Performance (20%); Graduation Rate (10%); Underserved Student Performance (10%).
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the report:
- 15 IDEA High Schools Rank within top 100 high schools in Texas
- 13 IDEA High Schools in the Rio Grande Valley were ranked in the top 5% of high schools in Texas.
- IDEA McAllen, IDEA Frontier, IDEA Quest, IDEA Rundberg, and IDEA Carver College Preparatory Schools Ranked Among the Top 1% in the Nation.
- San Antonio: IDEA Carver, IDEA South Flores, IDEA Mays, IDEA Monterrey Park, IDEA Walzem, and IDEA Judson College Preparatory schools are ranked in the top 10% of high schools in the nation.
- Austin: IDEA Rundberg College Preparatory ranked as the third best in the Austin metro area high schools, ranked as the first in charter schools in the Austin metro area, and is ranked in the top 1% of high schools nationally.

The highest ranked high schools included those whose students have demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading, and science state assessments. They earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams and graduated in high proportions.
