Ms. Hope Walker has been an Assistant Principal of Instruction with IDEA since June 2014. Prior to joining our Team and Family, she was a standout teacher, literacy coach, and curriculum guru with Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Since joining IDEA, Hope has worked tirelessly to improve the outcomes of our academy students in San Antonio, having served at both IDEA South Flores and IDEA Judson. In that time, Hope has become an expert in Direct Instruction; one of the many reasons we are so excited to announce that she will be the founding principal at IDEA Harvey E. Najim Academy.
“I always believe in the power of change,” said Hope. “Making a difference, a direct impact, in the lives of scholars and teachers was always at the forefront of my mind. This is something I continue to work on daily, and I hope that I have that chance to expand my role at IDEA.”
Theresa began her career in education as a math teacher on the west side of Chicago with Teach For America. In search of a warmer climate, Theresa moved to Houston and continued to teach math at KIPP Houston Public Schools.
A once in a lifetime opportunity was presented to Theresa which caused her to take a break from teaching in America. She moved to Abu Dhabi to teach English for one year. However, she wanted to return to the United States in order to make a difference in the lives of children who shared her background. She moved back to Houston and continued her career as a teacher and was promoted to Assistant Principal six years ago. In June of 2018, Theresa joined the IDEA family as a Principal in Residence at IDEA South Flores College Prep and transitioned late Spring to support at IDEA Najim College Prep. Theresa Hall was named Principal in May of 2019.
