Dr. Annette Macias, a native of West Texas, was born and raised in the Permian Basin. She is a distinguished educational leader, holding a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership Policy from Texas Tech University, a master’s degree in special education, and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Multicultural Studies from the University of Texas Permian Basin. With a 27-year career in education, Dr. Macias has excelled in numerous influential roles across various settings, including her most recent role at the largest urban school district in Texas, Houston ISD.
Her extensive experience spans positions such as Executive Director of School Improvement, Accountability, Research, Evaluation, and Federal Programs, as well as Director of Student Support, Director of School Improvement and Accountability, Principal, Bilingual Educational Diagnostician, and Bilingual Teacher.
Dr. Macias is a dedicated servant leader who prioritizes diversity and the needs of disadvantaged student populations. Her educational philosophy centers on ensuring college and career opportunities for every student.
Over the past decade, she has driven positive transformations in education through her central office administrative roles, solidifying a legacy of excellence. Dr. Macias’ unwavering commitment to student success and her ability to inspire and lead have left an indelible mark on every community she has served.
