Mathways to STEM Success

Elements and Progression of Math Curriculum

IDEA Public Schools designed new Math Curriculum to support college and career readiness for scholars seeking an opportunity in STEM programs. The 2019 Education, Innovation, and Research Grant (EIR) generated a plan to create, pilot, improve, and implement Math for grades 7-12. With the significant growth in STEM Careers, our objective is to support our students with the tools and understanding that lead to maintaining a successful future.

“Our randomized control trial reveals that Code.org and BJC are both exceptional curricula, effectively fostering success for teachers and students in AP Computer Science Principles. The pivotal factor in teachers’ success across both cohorts was their adept classroom instruction, reinforced by comprehensive district-level support materials and ongoing district professional development opportunities.

Since AP exam results revealed no notable distinctions between the two cohorts, IDEA has decided to adopt BJC as the primary curriculum. Its programming emphasis and heightened rigor will help prepare our students for AP Computer A and other college-level computer science courses.”
