Two IDEA students wanted to thank special staff members who served as a shining light this past year. We are so glad everybody can be back together on campus in a safe, rigorous and fun in-person learning environment where students thrive and succeed on the road to and through college.
“A Superhero Who Never Gives Up”

I give notable remarks to all the IDEA staff for making it safe to go back to school in person, but there is one specific person who has helped me and all the school exceedingly, and that person is Ms. Gonzalez, our campus health aide.
Ms. Gonzalez, though faced with many challenges in these hard times, has kept on helping students and teachers however stressful it may have been. Ms. Gonzalez still thrived in the face of the menacing COVID-19 and remained committed to helping administer the vaccine to IDEA families, students, and staff in Texas. She was determined to ensure our teachers could teach and the students can learn in a safe and healthy environment. That is what is considered the work of a superhero! People such as Ms. Gonzalez are risking everything so that other people can be safe. Those efforts deserve full respect, praise, and gratitude.
In addition to this greatness, Ms. Gonzalez helped assess and implement safety measures that continue to keep students and teachers safe while teaching and learning. She has led IDEA staff into making every room in our school as safe as possible so that everyone is socially distanced and protected. She ensures that every student is safe and sound. She never stops until every student is cared for.
Finally, the most influential part that a nurse plays in any school is making sure that the students are healthy and happy so they can continue learning and thriving. Through the somber times of the pandemic, Ms. Gonzalez started to notice changes in the students that visited her. She realized that more students were entering with increased anxiety. Ms. Gonzalez takes time out of her day to calm students who may be experiencing increased anxiety and panic attacks. It is prodigious how anything that students come to Ms. Gonzalez for is fixed or cured. It is as if nothing is impossible for our nurse. She will never give up until her job is done.
I want to say thank you to Ms. Gonzalez, on behalf of myself and students at IDEA Tres Lagos, for helping us feel safe to come back to school in person. We are all forever grateful for the work that the nurses and IDEA staff have done for us. Your work and dedication will never be forgotten.
“Grateful Beyond Words for Coach Mimi”

There are good teachers and leaders in my school that have helped me through one of the strangest years of my life. One of those influential people is our coach and athletics director, Noehmi ‘Mimi’ Rojas. She has helped me a lot this year, and I am grateful to have her as my coach. I have known her since my 6th grade year, and she has pushed me to my greatest potential the whole way. This year, she started sports as soon as she was able to, and helped us, as a school, to feel as normal and safe as possible.
One thing that I am very thankful for is how Coach Mimi always sets us up for success. Whether it be in the classroom or on the field, she prepares us for the worst while always knowing we can do the best. She has always strived to make sure that we are up to date on all our assignments and makes the instructions clear and precise. She gives us helpful reviews and feedback when it comes time to take an exam so that we are as prepared as possible. When she sees that I or another student do not understand, she goes the extra mile to explain in greater detail what is expected.
Coach Mimi always has a positive attitude, and it spreads like a wildfire. She makes jokes occasionally during practice just to keep the mood up and keep us motivated to be better. She always puts classwork and grades before sports as well. I am very thankful that she ensures our grades are the best we can make them before we play on the field. She has made this year much easier by allowing time for us to have after school tutoring during practice. Learning with lagging WIFI at home is never easy, but this opportunity for tutoring lets us advocate for ourselves. All in all, I am grateful beyond words for Coach Mimi. She has pushed me to be the best I can. She helped me to grow during a time where it looked like the world was falling apart. She is an amazing leader in our school and an outstanding coach. I can’t think of anyone better in her place.
Algunos estudiantes Estelares de IDEA agradecen a miembros del personal que fueron muy especiales y fueron como una luz en su camino el año pasado. Estamos muy contentos de que todos puedan volver a estar juntos en el campus en un ambiente de aprendizaje presencial seguro, riguroso y divertido donde los estudiantes prosperen y tengan éxito en el camino hacia y durante la universidad.
“La superheroína Sra. González Nunca Se Rinde”

Hago reconocimiento especial a todo el personal de IDEA por permitirnos que sea seguro volver a la escuela en persona, pero hay una persona en específico que me ha ayudado a mí y a toda la escuela, esa persona es la Sra. González, nuestra asistente de salud del campus.
La Sra. González, aunque enfrentó muchas complicaciones en estos tiempos difíciles, ha seguido ayudando a los estudiantes y maestros por más estresante que haya sido. El virus la ha retado física y mentalmente. La Sra. González prosperó frente a la amenaza de COVID-19 y arriesgó su vida para ayudar a administrar la vacuna a la gente de Texas. Ella ha estado poniendo en riesgo su vida para que nuestros maestros puedan enseñar y los estudiantes puedan aprender. ¡Eso es lo que se considera el trabajo de un superhéroe! Personas como la Sra. González están arriesgando todo para que otras personas puedan estar a salvo. Esos esfuerzos merecen nuestro respeto, admiración y gratitud.
Además de esta dedicación, la Sra. González también implementó las reglas de la escuela que continúan manteniendo a los estudiantes y maestros seguros mientras enseñan y aprenden. Ella ha llevado al personal de IDEA a hacer que cada salón de clases sea lo más seguro posible para que todos estén socialmente distanciados y protegidos entre sí. Ella se asegura de que cada estudiante esté sano y salvo. Ella nunca se detiene hasta que cada estudiante sea atendido.
Finalmente, el papel más significativo que una enfermera juega en cualquier escuela es asegurarse de que los estudiantes están en una condición saludable para seguir aprendiendo y prosperando. Durante estos tiempos sombríos de la pandemia, la Sra. González ha comenzado a notar cambios en los estudiantes que la visitan. Ella ha comenzado a ver que más estudiantes están entrando con mayor nivel de ansiedad. También me considero una persona ansiosa, y sé que a veces estar ansioso puede ser preocupante, ya que es algo que solo yo puedo curar. Es la misma situación con los estudiantes que se acercan a la Sra. González en busca de ayuda. La señora González no puede darles nada porque la ansiedad es una emoción. Aun así, la Sra. González todavía se toma el tiempo en su día para calmar a los estudiantes que pueden estar experimentando un aumento de la ansiedad y ataques de pánico.
Es extraordinario cómo por cualquier cosa que los estudiantes van con la Sra. González, se mejoran o se curan. Es como si nada fuera imposible para nuestra enfermera. Ella nunca se rinde hasta que su trabajo está hecho.
Para concluir, quiero dar las gracias en mi nombre y en el de todos los estudiantes de IDEA por hacer que sea seguro regresar en persona. Todos estamos eternamente agradecidos por el trabajo que las enfermeras y el personal de IDEA han hecho por nosotros. Su trabajo y dedicación nunca serán olvidados.
“Agradecido infinitamente por la entrenadora Mimi”

Hay buenos maestros y líderes en mi escuela que me han ayudado a través de uno de los años más extraños de mi vida. Una de esas personas que fue de gran influencia es nuestra entrenadora y directora de atletismo: Noehmi ‘Mimi’ Rojas. Ella me ha ayudado mucho durante este año, y estoy agradecido de tenerla como mi entrenadora. La conozco desde mi 6to grado, y ella me ha empujado a sacar mi mayor potencial durante todo el camino. Este año, comenzó con deportes tan pronto como pudo, y nos ayudó a que como escuela nos sintiéramos lo más normal posible.
Una cosa por la que estoy muy agradecida es de cómo la entrenadora Mimi siempre nos prepara para triunfar. Ya sea en el salón de clases o en el campo, ella nos prepara para lo peor sabiendo siempre que podemos hacerlo mejor. Ella siempre se ha esforzado por asegurarse de que estamos al día en todas nuestras materias y nos da las instrucciones claras y precisas. Ella nos da comentarios útiles y retroalimentación cuando llega el momento de tomar un examen para que estemos lo más preparados posible. Cuando ve que yo o algún otro estudiante no entendemos, hace un esfuerzo extra para explicar con mayor detalle lo que se espera.
La entrenadora Mimi siempre tiene una actitud positiva y la irradia por todos lados. Ella hace chistes de vez en cuando durante la práctica sólo para mantenernos animados y mantenernos motivados para ser mejores. Ella siempre pone el trabajo de clase y las calificaciones antes que los deportes. Estoy muy agradecida de que se asegura de que nuestras calificaciones sean las mejores que podamos obtener antes de jugar en el campo. Ella ha hecho este año mucho más fácil al permitirnos tiempo para tener tutorías después de la escuela durante horas de práctica. Aprender con WIFI rezagado nunca es fácil, pero esta oportunidad de tutoría nos permite abogar por nosotros mismos. Considerando todo, estoy infinitamente agradecido por la entrenadora Mimi. Ella me ha empujado a dar lo mejor que puedo. Ella me ayudó a crecer durante un tiempo en el que parecía que el mundo se desmoronaba. Ella es una líder increíble en nuestra escuela y una entrenadora excepcional. No puedo pensar en nadie mejor en su lugar.
