IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley concluded three days of College Signing Day events at the McAllen Convention Center on May 16. Seniors from IDEA Alamo, IDEA Sports Park, IDEA Riverview, and IDEA Mission kicked off Friday morning with energy. Later in the day, the afternoon welcomed the graduating classes from IDEA Donna, IDEA Frontier, IDEA McAllen, IDEA Tres Lagos, and IDEA Toros.  

During the third day of College Signing Day events in the Rio Grande Valley, nineteen seniors were honored with scholarships for their academic excellence. Eighteen students were awarded IDEA’s Give Me Five Scholarship for $8,000, funded by generous donations from the IDEA Team and Family. Give Me Five Scholarship Recipients from the third day of presentations are Esthefania Mendoza and Estefania Trujillo-Campos from IDEA Alamo, Diego Garza and Maximiliano Castellanos from IDEA Sports Park, Diego Cavazos and Hannia Chavez from IDEA Riverview, Yazlin Rivera and Karen Rodriguez-Martinez from IDEA Mission, Miguel Perez and Ana Garza from IDEA Donna, Andres Ornelas and Diego Campos from IDEA Frontier, Raul Hinojosa and Violeta Waters from IDEA McAllen, Alan Colin and Juan Leon from IDEA Tres Lagos, and Miryam Trevino and Cesar Garcia from IDEA Toros.  

Presenting sponsor, McGriff Insurance, named IDEA Frontier senior Naivy Martinon as this year’s recipient of the McGriff Scholarship. 

Students from the third day of College Signing Day presentations have been accepted to the nation’s top colleges and universities, including California Institute of Technology, Rice University, Northeastern University, Columbia, Yale, and more.
