Radha Guajardo was born and raised in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. She graduated as a lawyer from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in 1993; however, it was not until 2001 that she pursued her passion as an educator.
Radha first joined IDEA Public Schools at our Frontier campus as a high school Spanish teacher in 2007. Afterwards, Radha went on to become an Assistant Principal in 2012 and a Principal in Residence in 2014. Her drive and love for education led Radha to become a Rhodes Scholar and complete Harvard’s Educational Leadership Program all in the same year.
In 2015, Radha went on to become the founding Academy Principal at IDEA Riverview, where she still serves today. Through her hard work and renowned leadership, IDEA Riverview Academy has set the performance standard across both our district and the state of Texas. Radha earned our Best Academy award for the 2017-2018 academic year. Likewise, the Education Results Partnership (ERP) has recognized Riverview Academy as a leader in student performance in Texas, and the ERP has named Riverview Academy to the 2018-2019 Texas State Honor Roll. Her dedication and passion for fostering future generations has surely empowered Radha with the abilities and goals to Close the Achievement Gap and better the community.
Her love extends beyond her community as she continues to serve God alongside her husband and two sons.
Mrs. Adriana Ramos was born and raised in Monterrey, N.L. México. Mrs. Ramos matriculated to the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León with a full scholarship. She graduated in 1991 from the School of Philosophy and Spanish Letters and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy, making her the first college graduate in her family.
Mrs. Ramos joined IDEA Frontier College Prep in 2009 with 12 years of experience in education, 9 of those as a Principal of a private school in Mexico. At IDEA Frontier, Mrs. Ramos taught AP Spanish Language and Literature. In her 1st year of teaching at IDEA, she received the honor of being named the Teacher of the Year. As an AP teacher, she led the district with the highest AP college credit awarded to seniors for two years in a row. In 2010, she became the Spanish content leader and was responsible for developing a vertically aligned curriculum for existing Spanish courses and writing the Spanish III curriculum for the district. In 2013, Mrs. Adriana Ramos started the Principal in Residence program. During this time, she was part of “The Rhodes Fellowship,” a prestigious program where she received the best training to become a school principal. Also, she attended the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University to develop her skills as a leader. Mrs. Ramos traveled to New York City to observe the best charter schools and brought new ideas to our campus. She has adopted the best practices she acquired while at Harvard School of Education at IDEA Riverview College Prep. Ms. Ramos holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
IDEA Riverview College Prep was opened in August 2015, with Mrs. Adriana Ramos as the Founding Principal. Under Mrs. Ramos’ leadership, IDEA Riverview College Prep has earned an “A Rating” from the Texas Education Agency every year. Ms. Ramos firmly believes that parental involvement is crucial in education. She developed Escuela para Padres, whose main purpose is to provide parents with the necessary skills to ensure the best environment at home for our Rockets. When walking the hallways at Riverview College Prep, the culture of high expectations and camaraderie is palpable by observing IDEA students demonstrate Team & Family through all their actions. Mrs. Ramos’ goal for IDEA Riverview Students is to create a culture of unity and master creating individual relationships with all students and families. Mrs. Ramos’ commitment to IDEA’s mission and culture facilitated her ability to invest parents, students, teachers, and school leaders in creating a strong TEAM and FAMILY environment. Mrs. Ramos believes that everyone deserves respect, hope, and an opportunity to succeed, and she models these beliefs daily by always being willing to listen, understand, help, and problem-solve to assist others in meeting their professional and educational goals.
Thanks to her commitment to supporting everyone to reach their maximum potential, on May 2022, Mrs. Ramos graduated the inaugural class at IDEA Riverview, which was the largest graduating class in IDEA Public School history, sending 111 students to and through college. Mrs. Ramos also supports the adults around her. She mentored and developed 3 School Principals and many other teachers to take diverse leadership roles in our organization. This is the reason why Mrs. Ramos, in her seven years as a Principal at IDEA, has been named the “Best Mentor Leader” at IDEA Public Schools. Mrs. Ramos lives in Brownsville with her husband, Dr. Mario Valades, where together, they raised their daughter Elizabeth, who is a proud IDEA Frontier graduate class of 2016. Her daughter graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020. They love to travel as a family and enjoy the blessings of time spent with family and friends.
