Former Global President of Pfizer Vaccines
Nanette Cocero has been the Global President of Pfizer Vaccines during the last four years, leading the development, marketing and delivery of innovative vaccines to drive the prevention of serious and life-threatening conditions. With over 25 years of experience in diverse leadership positions, Nanette is a recognized global leader with broad commercial and business acumen coupled with an extensive clinical background and scientific expertise. Nanette’s experience includes leading global teams of 3,500+ colleagues and managing diverse portfolios. In her most current role, Nanette has led an over $30B global business and managed a diverse vaccines portfolio aimed at protecting lives at all stages, from infants to older adults. Most recently, Nanette has been responsible for the development, global commercialization, and delivery of >2B doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to 152 countries and territories around the world. In addition to vaccines, Nanette’s vast expertise includes working across multiple therapeutic areas within Specialty and Primary Care.
Throughout her 21 year tenure at Pfizer, she has held a number of senior positions touching every market of the world, from United States, Europe and Japan to Emerging Markets. She has traveled and worked globally seeking innovative solutions to healthcare distribution and the development of life-changing health advances. Prior to Global President Vaccines, Nanette was Regional President, Emerging Markets for Pfizer’s Innovative Health business. In this role, she led business operations for over 100 countries across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, spanning Pfizer’s core therapeutic areas including vaccines, oncology, inflammation and immunology, internal medicine and rare disease. Recognized for demonstrating an innovative mindset in the way healthcare is delivered, she has leveraged telemedicine and established partnerships to leverage drones to deliver medicine and vaccines to remote areas of the world. In previous positions, Nanette was responsible for driving continuous commercial growth in Spain, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, while bringing novel medicines and expanding access to these areas/markets.
Before joining Pfizer, Nanette was a management consultant in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Nanette earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Cornell University, a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from The Wharton Business School. She has lived and worked in the continental United States, Puerto Rico, and Spain, and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
