IDEA Public Schools is committed to providing families with visibility into the instructional materials used in classrooms. On this page, families can review district instructional materials, access local course syllabi, and learn how to request additional materials or ask questions.

If you do not find what you are looking for on this page, you may contact your child’s school directly or submit a request through our instructional materials request email. 

What You Can Find On This Page

This page is designed to give families access to instructional materials and course information used across IDEA Public Schools. Families may use this page to: 

  • Review district-designed instructional materials. 
  • Access syllabi for teacher-designed and university-designed courses.
  • Understand the differences between course types .
  • Request additional materials or ask questions about materials used in a course.

Course Definitions

To support clarity and consistency, IDEA uses the following course definitions for instructional materials review and parent visibility.

District-Designed Courses
Definition: Courses in which instructional materials are developed, vetted, and provided by IDEA and are aligned to TEKS and SBOE-approved courses

What this means: 

  • Curriculum is centrally designed and approved  
  • Teachers implement provided materials  
  • Families can review district materials through the links posted on this page


Teacher-Designed Courses
Definition: Courses in which the teacher is responsible for designing or developing instructional materials, even if aligned to TEKS or SBOE-approved courses. 

What this means: 

  • Materials are not centrally provided by IDEA  
  • The teacher is responsible for creating or curating core content  
  • Families can review the course syllabus posted on this page  
  • Families may request additional materials through their child’s school or through the request email listed below


University-Designed Courses
Definition: Courses in which instructional materials and syllabus are designed and governed by apartner university or college. 

What this means: 

  • Courses follow a university syllabus and expectations  
  • An IDEA teacher may teach the course while using externally designed content  
  • Families can review the course syllabus posted on this page  
  • Families may request additional materials through their child’s school or through the request email listed below 
Request Additional Materials or Ask Questions

If you would like to request additional instructional materials or have questions about materials used in your child’s course, you may use one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Contact Your Child’s School 
    You may contact your child’s school directly to request instructional materials used in your child’s course. 
  • Option 2: Submit a Request by Email 
    You may submit a request to: curriculumrequests@ideapublicschools.org 


When submitting a request, please include:
 

  • Student’s Campus Name
  • Course name 
  • Teacher name (if known)
  • A brief description of the materials you are requesting or your question.


IDEA will acknowledge requests within 1 business day. Requested materials will be provided within 5 business days.
