Area Superintendent, El Paso and Tarrant County

Biography

Damien Stovall is the Area Superintendent for the Tarrant County/DFW and El Paso regions, bringing over 23 years of experience from Dallas ISD. This includes eight years as a principal and more than five years as a principal manager, where he spearheaded school transformation and accelerated student achievement across numerous campuses in Dallas.

As principal at Charles A. Gill Elementary, he guided the campus to Gold Ribbon status. He later took the helm at Edward Titche Elementary School, revitalizing it from the brink of closure—after more than a decade of underperformance—to achieve an A rating, six distinctions, and 2020 National Blue-Ribbon Status in under three years. He then advanced to Executive Director in Dallas, overseeing the transformative work within the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) program as a principal supervisor. In this capacity, he supported 23 campuses in their transformative practices while onboarding seven schools requiring improvement. In the first year, six of those seven campuses met state expectations, and currently, all are rated C or higher, with four achieving an A-rating and recognition as Gold Ribbon Campuses by Children at Risk.

In his most recent role as Executive Director of the Spruce Elementary School Vertical Team in Dallas’s Pleasant Grove area, Damien orchestrated the transformation of ten schools, including four campuses that were previously identified as “improvement required.” Preliminary data indicates all four of these campuses have achieved a B or higher rating.

Damien resides in the Dallas area and enjoys reading, exercising, and exploring new knowledge. Originally from Sunflower, Mississippi, his educational journey comprises a Bachelor of Science from Jackson State University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington. These experiences solidified his conviction in the power and importance of education. He embodies this belief in his professional endeavors, championing all students to have access to a quality education and the opportunity to pursue higher education. He is committed to collaborating with school leaders, faculty, staff, parents, and community stakeholders to fortify existing schools and establish new institutions of excellence, ultimately realizing the goal of college and beyond for all students.
