Alaine Ortiz was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Brownsville and earned her bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Early Childhood to 6th grade bilingual education.
From 2011 to 2017, she worked with the Brownsville Independent School District. She taught 3rd grade self-contained for five years, where she impacted students by achieving ambitious results. During her third year of teaching, she pursued a master's degree at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, where she graduated with her master's in Educational Leadership with a Principal Certification. Seeing the impact of being a first-generation college student with a master's degree had not only on her but also her family, she sought to share this impact by pursuing a leadership role at IDEA Public Schools. With hard work, 100% of students could share their experience and get to and through college.
In 2017, she joined the IDEA Frontier Academy Team and Family as an Assistant Principal of Instruction for 3rd-5th grade for two years. She coached teachers in implementing rigorous curriculums in math, reading, and science. In 2019, she became a Rocket as a Principal in Residence at IDEA Riverview Academy. There, she had the opportunity to experience vertical coaching with K-5 grade mathematics and lead others to reach ambitious results.
She is currently in her 5th year as a proud principal of our Mavericks at IDEA Weslaco Pike Academy. Under her leadership, the campus has focused on data-driven instruction, student success initiatives, and building strong community partnerships that foster a positive and thriving school culture. She continues to dedicate her work to ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education, grounded in her belief that every child has the potential to achieve ambitious results and graduate college-ready.
