With a BA in History from Princeton University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership, Teachers College – Columbia University, Taylor Nichols knows children are not currently getting the education they deserve and strives to change this. This is especially true for students of lesser means which in Austin, Texas, means east of the I-35 freeway. Taylor is committed to IDEA because the schools have proven that the status quo does not have to persist. He is proud to work for an organization that maintains high expectations for students and is changing the trajectory of their lives.
Mr. McCarty is a Houston, TX native. He holds a Dual-Degree Engineering Degree from Morehouse College and Auburn University in General Science and Industrial Engineering respectively. He also holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education degree in Diversity & Equity from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Mr. McCarty started his professional career as a business-man in Corporate America working for Procter & Gamble. After a few years of working for Corporate America, he realized his passion and purpose was within the field of Education which has led him to IDEA Public Schools. He passionately cares about helping to be a positive influence for K-12 scholars to ensure they have the opportunity to live the future they imagine without limitations. He is a champion for Diversity & Equity which is pivotal to ensuring the success of our students as well as working with parents and the community who all help to shape and empower our future leaders.
