After graduating from Gettysburg College, Megan Burnham Monnahan began her career as a special education teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
After two years, she was promoted to Special Education Coordinator for her school, overseeing a program with over 200 students receiving Special Education Services. During her time in Prince George’s County, Megan was recognized with the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee Extraordinary Service Award and the Maryland Council for Exceptional Children Frances R. Fuchs Award. Megan also completed her M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska during this time.
Megan is vehemently dedicated to IDEA’s mission of college for all. As a first-generation college graduate, she has seen the immense impact that completion of a 4-year degree has on someone’s life. She looks forward to continuing that promise to the families of IDEA Mays!
