Hope Williams

Principal, IDEA Judson Academy

Prior to her arrival at IDEA Public Schools, she was already a passionate advocate for the students of San Antonio and a leader in the city’s growing charter school movement. Now in her 2nd year as a Principal-in-Residence, she has become an integral member of the IDEA South Flores Academy team. A native of Pittsburgh, and a first-generation college student herself, she has seen firsthand the transformational effect that education can have on our students and families.

Christina’s career with IDEA Public Schools began in June 2003, where she was one of five founding high school teachers at ICP Donna. Between 2003 and 2007, Christina taught 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade humanities, and led her team as the humanities content leader for two years. Christina continued her role as a teacher and added on more responsibilities as an Assistant Principal/Dean of Students for the middle and high school. In this role, Christina was responsible for creating many of the student structures and systems at ICP Donna. After two years as an Assistant Principal, Christina became the first Alumni Affairs Coordinator for the organization to help ensure that 100% of IDEA’s alumni finish college within four years.

In 2007, Christina was asked to lead the Human Resources Department for the organization, and served as the Vice President of Human Resources for two years. Her aspirations of becoming a school principal came to fruition when Christina returned to ICP Donna in 2009 as the middle school principal. In June 2010, Christina was named Principal of IDEA College Prep Donna. While Principal at ICP Donna, it has been named one of the Best High Schools in the nation by US News & World Report. Christina now serves as Principal at IDEA Academy Mission.

Christina earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Grinnell College in 2002. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Sam Houston State University.

Christina lives in Weslaco, with her husband John Jacob, two daughters, Romina and Niavana, and son, Rio.

Principal, IDEA Judson College Prep

Having worked for the past decade as a school and district level leader in some of the top charter organizations in California, he has brought his excellent record of results to IDEA as a Principal-in-Residence while reconnecting with his deep ties to the San Antonio area. We are confident that he’ll lead IDEA Judson College Prep to the same outstanding achievements of his former campus in California.

Since joining IDEA Public Schools in 2014, Matt has been and continues to be committed to building schools with strong student and staff culture, high expectations for results and a strong sense of community and competition.  He looks to continue this work as he takes on the role of Principal.

A native of Xenia, Ohio, Matt attended a Carroll High School, a private Catholic school with a 98% college acceptance rate at the time. After graduating, Matt attended The Ohio State University where he majored in Economics. During his time in college Matt served as President of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and helped turn a struggling organization into a nationally recognized and awarded fraternity, also receiving individual national recognition as the president or “Grand Master of the Year”. After college, Matt earned his Master’s in Education from Antioch University while also working for the prestigious Thomas B. Fordham Institute, an organization dedicated to reforming education at the national level. These experiences guided Matt’s interest into joining Teach for America, which brought Matt to the Rio Grande Valley. As a Corps Member he taught AP World History at Roma High School and helped re-write the curriculum to align to the AP standards leading to successful results even after he left to join IDEA Public Schools. Matt came to IDEA Pharr after his time in Roma and was the founding AP World History Teacher and as the 10th Grade Team Leader. After leading the district in AP testing results, Matt became an Assistant Principal of Instruction last year and a Principal in Residence this year at IDEA Mission College Prep where he has continued to coach his teachers and prepare IDEA students for college and lifetime success.

Matt currently lives in McAllen, TX with his loving wife, Margie (who also works for IDEA), their daughter Sutton and sons Mykel, Meryk and “baby” John. They are his motivation and drive him to become a better husband, father and servant every day.
