The Special Programs team provides resources, training, and support for all campuses that service students who are English Language Learners (ELL) and/or receive 504, Homebound, Dyslexia, or Special Education services. Additionally, we provide resources, training, and support for the Response to Intervention (RtI) process and for campuses that service students who receive a specialized remedial curriculum for additional academic support.Special Programs at IDEA
Shenell Deville was raised in the small rural town of Mamou in Southwest Louisiana. She comes from a family lineage of educators. Shenell attended Grambling State University in Louisiana and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1993. She then attended the University of New Orleans and earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Education in Special Education. She also earned her Educational Leadership certification through her studies at Xavier University in New Orleans.
During her 25 years in education, Shenell served as a special education teacher, a gifted and talented teacher, biology teacher, a special programs manager for special education, 504 and English Language Learners, an educational diagnostician, a state academic coordinator, an assistant principal in Houston, TX, and an elementary school principal in North Louisiana. She has worked in many settings throughout her career: public school, private school, charter school, online school, supplemental educational services, district level, and state level. Shenell joined IDEA in June 2020 as Principal for Innovation Academy in Baton Rouge. She is grateful to relocate back to her home roots in Southern Louisiana and be of service to the children, families, school staff, and community of the great capitol city of Baton Rouge.Continue Reading
IDEA Innovation College Prep Principal Jeremy Roussel is a first generation college graduate and native of New Orleans. A Louisiana-certified school leader, Jeremy holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a Masters in English Literature with another 30+ graduate credits dedicated to Educational Administration.
He’s served in public education for over ten years and continues to fight for equity and excellence for underserved and marginalized students in Southern Louisiana. Jeremy is currently pursuing his doctorate in School Leadership and plans to support Southern Louisiana for many years to come.Continue Reading
Eric Robert is a first-generation college graduate of Nicholls State University known as Harvard on the Bayou and a native of the world-renowned city of Marrero, located in Westbank of New Orleans. Eric holds an undergraduate degree in liberal arts and a double masters in Theology and Biblical studies. He currently holds a Doctorate of Theology degree from St.John Bible Institute. Eric’s mission is to add value in the lives of people he comes into contact with, to help people meet their full potential socially, emotionally, and academically.
Eric began his career in operational leadership 15 years ago. Over the past 5 years Eric has been serving as a Senior School Operation Manager in Both the East Baton Rouge School charter system and the Jefferson Parish charter school system. Eric has proven years of experience and success in people development, performance management, and operational excellence. Eric adds value by being an active role model to peers and students. Eric believes, it takes a village to raise a child and live by the “mantra” Improvise, adapt, and overcome.
