IDEA Public Schools Celebrates National Career and Technical Education Month
February 1-28, 2025, has been designated Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month® by the Association for Career and Technical Education. Career and Technical Education at IDEA offers students the opportunity to gain the academic, technical and, employability skills necessary for true college and career readiness.
IDEA Career and Technical Education students participate in authentic, meaningful experiences that improve the quality of their education and increase their engagement and achievement through hands-on learning. Giving scholars exploration opportunities beginning as early as eighth grade, CTE courses enable students to make informed and beneficial decisions about their academic coursework and pursue established programs of study and career pathways in college.
CTE scholars at IDEA are celebrating this month with field lessons, gaining hands-on experience in the classroom, and preparing for spring competitions. Keep reading to see some highlights from this school year.
IDEA Weslaco
Students in Nursing Science and Health Therapeutics from IDEA Weslaco College Prep participated in a field lesson in Houston, Texas where students visited the Texas Medical Center and The Health Museum.
IDEA Mesquite Hills
IDEA Mesquite Hills celebrates CTE Month with a showcase of their Engineering program. Students were proud to exhibit their work as the the founding campus for CTE Engineering in the IDEA El Paso region.
IDEA Palmview
Future Farmers of America (FFA) Students in Agribusiness and Animal Science compete in the annual South Texas Agricultural Roundup and Citrus Valley District Livestock show competitions.
IDEA Burke
Guest speaker Sally Hollingsworth from the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union visited the IDEA Burke campus in San Antonio to give a presentation on credit scores and financial management to students in Principles of Business, Management, and Finance.
