We have much to celebrate at IDEA as we usher in a new school year, including recent news from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Today, the TEA released its list of 2021-2022 School Accountability Ratings and 109 IDEA schools—or 95% of our schools in Texas—received an A or B letter grade!  

Designed to offer greater transparency for parents and more accountability from school districts, each school campus in Texas received a letter rating that ranges from A through F. Scores are then calculated to rate individual school districts with a final letter grade.  

This year, districts received a scaled score and letter grade in three performance areas: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. IDEA’s results in each performance area are as follows: 

• Student Achievement: 89  
• School Progress: 89 
• Closing the Gaps: 88 
• IDEA District Accountability Rating Score: 89 (B) 

This year’s ratings highlights include:  

• Seventy IDEA schools—or 60% of our schools in Texas—received an A letter grade  
• Forty IDEA schools—or 34% of our schools in Texas—received a B letter grade 
• 27% of schools met all applicable distinctions 
• 100% of schools l in our Permian Basin, San Antonio, and Tarrant County regions received an A or B letter grade 
• 94% of the Class of 2021 graduated college and career ready 
• 76% of students met AP/IB criterion score in any subject 
• IDEA Frontier Academy received a near-perfect (99) A-rating 

This year, IDEA received a distinction for post-secondary readiness as a district for the first time ever!  

In total, 31 IDEA schools received 100% of all distinctions for which they were eligible including:
