Matthew Robinson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Matthew has a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Morehouse College, Master’s degrees in Educational Policy Studies and Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State University, and an educational specialist degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of Georgia.
He joined IDEA Public Schools in 2021 and is proud to have leadership experience across the states of Georgia, California, Rhode Island, Texas, and now Ohio.
Matthew has worked with several organizations some of which include: Breakthrough Atlanta, Education Pioneers, American College Testing (ACT), Encampment for Citizenship, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Matthew has earned Teacher of the Year (2016), Assistant Principal of the Year (2019), and State Charter School Shining Star (2021) awards for delivering results with state exam performance, teacher retention, professional development, curriculum design, and family engagement.
Matthew’s passion for creating and sustaining equitable K-12 spaces is unmatched and his approach to leadership uses art as a framework for social justice, school improvement, and college access.
