Dora Villegas is a first-generation American, a Rio Grande Valley native, and a first generation college graduate. After graduating from UTPA in 2000, Dora began her elementary teaching career and taught all subjects for eight years. Dora was recruited as a 6th grade teacher by IDEA Frontier College Prep and quickly became known for her positive classroom culture, leadership, and record of results.
The following year, she returned as an Assistant Principal of Instruction where she worked as a testing coordinator, a disciplinarian, managing big programs such as tutorials and intervention for 3 years. She developed into a strong instructional coach leading the English team to unprecedented state results. She is an experienced and successful teacher at heart, passionate about connecting families to the school, and approaches challenges in a logical systematic way to come up with solutions that benefit the entire school community.
Dora believes that lives change when parents partner with schools to navigate the educational roads and to build the expectation at an early age that their child WILL attend college. Dora’s work at IDEA has never just been a job, she works at IDEA because it is a personal mission to connect schools and families to achieve the mission of College For all students. She loves being a part of IDEA Frontier Academy family, and looks forward to working towards achieving new heights of success and excellence.
