This week, 22 of IDEA’s high schools were ranked among the top 8% of nearly 25,000 high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. What’s more, seven IDEA high schools ranked among the top 1% in the nation by this esteemed publication.
This is the sixteenth consecutive year IDEA has been represented in the annual list of rankings, reflecting the incredibly hard work our teachers, leaders, and staff are exhibiting every day for our students.
The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college: College Readiness (30%); College Curriculum Breadth (10%); State Assessment Proficiency (20%); State Assessment Performance (20%); Graduation Rate (10%); and Underserved Student Performance (10%).

- IDEA McAllen, IDEA Quest, IDEA Frontier, IDEA Carver, IDEA Rundberg, IDEA Alamo, and IDEA Riverview ranked within the top 1% nationally.
- Four IDEA high schools ranked in the top 20 high schools in Texas.
- IDEA Carver was ranked the #3 Best High School in the San Antonio area.
- IDEA Rundberg was ranked #3 Best High School in the Austin area.
- IDEA McAllen was ranked #1 Best High School in the McAllen area.
- 22 IDEA high schools ranked in the top 25% of all charter schools in the nation.
- 22 IDEA high schools ranked among the top 10% in Texas.
- In total, 23 IDEA high schools were represented in the rankings.
The highest-ranked schools include those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading, and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.
