Nature Buddies at Camp RIO: Exclusively for IDEA Public Schools Kindergarten

Are you ready to let your little ones embark on an adventure of a lifetime? Camp RIO in Brownsville, Texas is thrilled to introduce our Nature Buddies program specially crafted for kindergarten students at IDEA Public Schools! This innovative program, inspired by the Forest Kindergarten model, immerses children in the great outdoors for play-based learning and discovery. Let your little ones grow and thrive in nature’s classroom!

Wildwood

In this self-guided play adventure, children will have the freedom to interact with natural elements and basic building materials, sparking their imagination and creativity. Wildwood provides a canvas for open-ended play with sticks, logs, tires, buckets, and an enchanting bridge.

Sensory Search

Through hands-on experiences students will cultivate a deeper connection to the world around them while fostering sensory awareness. Students utilize different stations to connect their environment to their senses and discuss with the class how each station reflects different parts of nature.

Nature Hike

Hiking is an exciting adventure where kindergarten kids become nature detectives! In this self-guided hike, young explorers will embark on a journey to identify native habitats, discover animal prints and trails, find water treasures, and notice changes in flora over time. Through imaginative play, they will unravel the secrets of caring for our environment and understand the impact of human stewardship.

Woodland Rhythms

Woodland Rhythms integrates music, art, and nature into a playful exploration of creativity and self-expression. Students will have inquiry based free play, where they can explore rhythmic melodies and harmonious tones, seamlessly blending creativity with the natural world.
