It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – our annual College Signing Day Events! Seniors from across our regions come together and take center stage to proudly announce which colleges they will be matriculating to. Surrounded by family and friends, this is their time to shine. All those long hours of studying for exams, writing college application essays, and applying for scholarships; it all leads to this moment. 

This year, our Austin region celebrated their biggest graduating class yet, with IDEA Parmer Park having their first graduating class to join the celebrations. IDEA Austin had 458 seniors submit 5,160 applications and received 2,191 acceptances with 527 of those being from selective and highly selective colleges. Additionally, our IDEA Austin seniors made history this year as the region with the most 4-year acceptances per scholar out of all our IDEA Texas regions. 

At our two events, 18 seniors were awarded scholarships that will help fund their dream schools. Fourteen seniors received IDEA’s Give Me 5 scholarships, which is funded through generous donations made by our Team and Family. Other scholarships included: the McGriff scholarship, Regions Bank scholarship, IDEA’s Facilities scholarship, and the Al & Judy Lopez scholarship. This year’s Al and Judy Lopez scholarship recipient from our Austin region, awarded in honor of IDEA’s late Board Chair and Acting CEO, was Dayani Mora from IDEA Pflugerville.  

Many of our IDEA Austin seniors will be staying close to home, with acceptances to colleges such as Texas State University, St. Edward’s University, and Concordia University. Some will venture far and wide with acceptances to schools such as the University of Pennsylvania, Tulane University, and Boston University. 

We’d like to congratulate our graduating seniors from our Austin region! Their futures are bright, and we wish them the best of luck as they step forward in this next chapter of their lives.
