Daniel P. González is thrilled to serve as Principal at IDEA Bluff Springs College Prep. He graduated from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor’s in Composite Social Studies and Teacher Education and earned a Master’s in History from Texas State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California.
Daniel’s journey in education began as a middle school social studies teacher at Bailey Middle School with Austin ISD. He loved watching his students engage with complex historical narratives and develop critical thinking skills as informed and empowered citizens. His passion for teaching soon led him to leadership roles, including becoming an Assistant Principal of Instruction at IDEA Bluff Springs College Prep, where he developed a deep love for supporting and developing teachers.
For the past few years, Daniel has had the privilege of serving as the Senior Director of Advanced Academics for KIPP Texas Public Schools. In this role, he worked to ensure that over 12,000 students had equitable access to AP coursework across 17 campuses throughout Texas and that leaders and teachers were equipped to provide rigorous, college-level instruction.
Daniel is excited to bring his experiences and passion for education to the Bluff Springs community. He is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
I earned my Bachelor’s in Education from St. Edward’s University in 1995 and later pursued a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2012. My journey in education spans over a decade, beginning in Austin ISD where I spent six enriching years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students. Following this, I transitioned to the role of a reading specialist at Langford Elementary, dedicating another six years to honing my expertise in literacy intervention. Afterward, I eagerly accepted the role of District Literacy Specialist, where I spent four years collaborating closely with thirteen elementary schools across Austin ISD to enhance literacy initiatives. Driven by a desire for new challenges and opportunities for impact, I transitioned to IDEA, where I've devoted the last eight years to IDEA Bluff Springs Academy, initially serving as the Assistant Principal of Instruction and now proudly holding the position of Principal.
My passion for education stems from a deep-seated belief in its transformative power. Witnessing firsthand the profound impact educators can have on students, I was drawn to the opportunity to be a catalyst for positive change in young lives. While the fulfillment of assisting even a single student is immeasurable, it's the potential to influence hundreds that continues to fuel my unwavering dedication to the field of education.
