Valerie Alvarado has dedicated 13 years to the field of education, beginning her teaching journey in a private school where she taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and 1st grade.
She joined IDEA over 10 years ago, teaching 1st-5th grade across all content areas at multiple campuses, including IDEA Mays, IDEA Ewing Halsell, and IDEA Brackenridge. Throughout her career, she has consistently met and exceeded her goals, demonstrating a deep commitment to scholar growth and academic excellence.
Valerie's experience spans across multiple roles, including co-teacher, teacher, Assistant Principal of Instruction, and now principal at IDEA Eastside Academy. She is passionate about providing scholars with the education they need and deserve and proudly considers IDEA Eastside her professional home. Having navigated and supported multiple campuses, she is honored to lead Eastside in making history through the achievements and growth of her scholars and staff. Valerie is dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships with both scholars and their families, connecting authentically to understand their needs, celebrate their successes, and ensure every child feels valued and supported.
