THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Hi, Future IDEA Parents!

HERE’S A QUICK GUIDE TO APPLYING.

How much does IDEA cost?

Like a traditional public school, any child can attend IDEA without paying tuition in grade levels Kinder through 12th grade.

Does my child have to take entrance exams or meet eligibility to enroll?

Prospective students are not required to take an entrance exam to be considered for admission.

Is my child old enough to attend IDEA?

In Texas, your child must be at least 5 years of age (for Kindergarten) on or by September 1, 2025.

In Louisiana, students must be 5 years of age (for Kindergarten) on or by September 30, 2025.

In Florida, students who will reach the age of 5 on or before September 1, 2025 can enter Kindergarten.

In Greater Cincinnati, students must be 5 years of age (for Kindergarten) on or by September 30, 2025.

What’s the cut-off date to submit my child’s application?

To be part of our student lottery you must submit your child’s application by midnight CST the evening before. We strongly encourage parents to apply before this time to have the best chance to attend IDEA!

What happens once my child gets accepted?

You’ll receive a notification and can login online to easily accept your child’s seat. Then we’ll invite you to join our IDEA family onboarding process, where you’ll get to know your child’s principal and teachers, meet fellow families, tour the school facilities, ask questions, and become part of our community through a variety of in-person events.

What happens if my child doesn’t get accepted during the lottery?

If students are not granted a seat at lottery, they will be placed on a waitlist for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year until a seat potentially opens up. They can also have the option to attend a different IDEA school and then transfer to your preferred IDEA campus if a seat opens up there.

Still have more questions?

Don’t worry. We completely understand! Deciding where your child goes to school is one of the most important choices for a parent.
