Re-Registration FAQs for the 2019-20 School Year

We look forward to having our scholars return to IDEA Public Schools for the 2019-20 school year! To guarantee your scholar’s spot, you will need to re-register your child through SchoolMint by February 9, 2019.  Please read the information below for frequently asked questions about the re-registration process.


Why do I need to re-register my child?  They already attend IDEA.

Great question!  Re-registration is so important because it lets us know that your child is coming back to IDEA, and it guarantees their spot.  In addition to confirming your child’s spot for next year, this process also ensures we have the most up-to-date information for your family on file.

I want my student to transfer to another IDEA campus, what do I do?

Transfer requests are included in our student lottery, which will take place on February 16. We ask that you complete the re-registration process by February 9. To begin this process, first select that you are “Returning” in SchoolMint, then select “Re-Enroll” and answer “Yes” to the question stating, “Are you interested in submitting an application for your student to transfer to another IDEA campus?” and provide your campus(es) of interest. This information will allow us to enter your transfer request in our student lottery.

Why am I selecting “Returning” if I want to transfer?

Transfer requests are not guaranteed at IDEA. Requests are dependent on availability at the transferring school. By selecting “Returning”, you are still securing your child’s seat at their current IDEA school in the case that a transfer is not possible. If your request can be fulfilled, we will make sure that your child’s re-registration information is transferred to their new school for the following school year.

My child will not be returning to IDEA.  Do I still need to do this? 

We are sad to see your child go, but yes, we ask that you do complete the process.  When you complete the re-registration process, you will have the option to indicate your child will not be returning to IDEA.  This crucial step allows us to determine which spots are open for future IDEA scholars!

On SchoolMint, I see the phrase “Access Application” on the login screen.  I’m not applying again, am I? 

Not to worry—you are not submitting another application. IDEA utilizes SchoolMint for both the application process and the re-registration one.  To re-register your child, you will click on the “Access Application” button.  From there, you will be navigated to the re-registration page.
