College Signing Day is the event that families, staff, and graduating seniors look forward to most each year at IDEA Public Schools. It is a season of joy and celebration as the hard work of our Team & Family proves our mission of College For All.
After two years of virtual College Signing Day events, seniors from IDEA Carver, IDEA Monterrey Park, IDEA Walzem, IDEA South Flores and the first graduating class from IDEA Eastside gathered at Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center to reveal their college decision for the first time to nearly 5,000 friends, family, and IDEA scholars.
Combined, the IDEA San Antonio Class of 2022 has 1,181 college acceptances, with 62% of those acceptances are to Tier 1 and Tier 2 schools. The IDEA San Antonio Class of 2022 also boasts 4 Dell Scholars, 2 Quest Bridge Scholars, and 1 Coca-Cola Scholarship recipient. IDEA Monterrey Park senior Jose Contreras Cindo also became the first recipient of a $10,000 Judy and Al Lopez Scholar award in memory of IDEA’s late acting CEO. Collectively, the region also received $30.7 million in scholarship funding.
Students from this year’s graduating class have been accepted to MIT, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Boston University, Northeastern University, Emory University, University of Notre Dame, and many more.

The celebration continues next week, when we celebrate IDEA Austin’s graduating class on Tuesday April 26, with College Signing Day events in the Rio Grande Valley on May 16, 17, and 18. We can’t wait to continue celebrating our graduating classes throughout IDEA during this joyful season!
