IDEA Public Schools Celebrates Red Ribbon Week: October 23-31

Did you know that according to National Family Partnership, children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t?

IDEA is proud to celebrate National Red Ribbon Week, an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. The Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Since its origin in 1985, the campaign has reached millions of U.S. children and families.

This year’s National Red Ribbon Week theme is, “Life Is Your Journey, Travel Drug Free.” To promote the campaign, IDEA campuses are promoting dress up days and educational classroom activities. Spreading the message of drug, alcohol, tobacco, and violence prevention, the IDEA Rio Vista campus stepped up and participated in a National Red Ribbon Week block party!

Be sure to follow us on our IDEA Facebook page to learn more about how our campuses are celebrating this important week.
