SAN ANTONIO (July 27, 2017) – IDEA Public Schools, a nationally-ranked charter school network, announced today plans to open two new schools in San Antonio. The new campus, IDEA Ingram Hills Academy and College Preparatory, will serve over 650 students in its first year. IDEA Ingram Hills joins 20 other IDEA San Antonio schools.
“We are thrilled to continue to expand in San Antonio to serve more students and their families in Ingram Hills in 2018,” said Rolando Posada, executive director at IDEA Public Schools San Antonio. “With over 1,400 students on a waiting list at a nearby IDEA school, we will be able to provide a high-quality education to more students in San Antonio as they progress along the road to and through college.”
IDEA Ingram Hills Academy and College Preparatory will serve students in Pre-K – 1st & 6###sup/sup### grade in its first year. Each school will add a grade level until the campus reaches full-scale, Pre-K to 12, status in 2024.
Beginning in September, parents can visit www.ideapublicschools.org/apply to submit an application for the 2018-19 school year. Additionally, IDEA will host a student lottery in January to randomly select who will fill spots at IDEA campuses for the 2018-19 school year. The selection process is done randomly to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to attend an IDEA school.
IDEA is the fastest-growing, highest-achieving charter school network in the country, with 61 schools serving nearly 36,000 students across Texas. Since 2012, IDEA has grown to serve over 10,000 students in the San Antonio region at 20 schools.
