AUSTIN (July 27, 2017) – IDEA Public Schools, a nationally-ranked charter school network, announced today plans to open four new schools in Pflugerville and Kyle in August 2018. The two new locations, IDEA Academy and College Prep Pflugerville and IDEA Academy and College Prep Kyle, will collectively serve nearly 1,000 students in the Austin area in their first year.
“We are thrilled to continue to expand our reach in the Austin area to serve students and their families in Pflugerville and Kyle in 2018,” said Patrica Noyola, executive director at IDEA Public Schools. “With the addition of these schools, our goal is to continue to provide a high-quality education to more students in Austin area as they progress along the road to and through college.”
IDEA Pflugerville and IDEA Kyle will each serve 480 students in grades K – 2nd and 6th in their opening year. Each school will each add a grade level until the campus reaches full-scale status in 2024.
Beginning in September, parents can visit www.ideapublicschools.org/apply to submit an application for the 2018-19 school year. Additionally, IDEA will host a student lottery in January to randomly select who will fill spots at IDEA campuses for the 2018-19 school year. The selection process is done randomly to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to attend an IDEA school.
IDEA is the fastest-growing, highest-achieving charter school network in the country, with 61 schools serving nearly 36,000 students. Since 2012, IDEA has grown to serve nearly 4,000 students in the Austin area at six schools. These new schools contribute to IDEA Austin’s 2022 expansion plan.
