IDEA Mission Academy has been designated as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools National Blue Ribbon School for 2018 by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.

The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. The Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools are among their state’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students over the past five years.

The campus was honored based on all student scores, subgroup student scores and graduation rates. IDEA Mission Academy is one of 349 schools in the nation and one of twenty-four schools from Texas to be recognized in 2018.

The Mission, Texas campus was founded in 2008 and is led by Principal Christina Cavazos-Escamilla. She will celebrate the school’s success at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 7 and Thursday, November 8.
