An open dialogue between families and staff is critical to the success of any school. By incorporating the thoughts, perspectives and opinions of our IDEA families, we can enhance our ability to improve the IDEA family experience. This is why IDEA Public Schools launched an inaugural Family Advisory Council (FAC) in fall 2018.
After receiving hundreds of applications, approximately 80 council members were chosen, representing each of IDEA’s six regions: Upper Valley, Lower Valley, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, and Southern Louisiana. Each regional FAC group is comprised of two members per campus.
Irma Munoz, IDEA’s Chief Operating Officer, is overseeing the FAC and is thrilled to involve our families in such rich dialogue. “I’m fellow IDEA parent,” she said, “And I understand firsthand the importance of sending our children to a school that prioritizes safety, superior academics, and personalized care for all children. This is why IDEA Public Schools was launched 18 years ago and why we continue to set the bar higher each year for our staff and our scholars. We need parent feedback in order to progress and strengthen our schools.”
By the year 2020, IDEA is projected to operate 173 schools and serve more than 100,000 students in 10 different regions across Texas, Florida, and Louisiana. In order to meet these ambitious goals, IDEA is taking the proactive approach to incorporate feedback from parents on how to provide the best possible experiences for our scholars and their families.
