It’s official!
IDEA Public Schools is proud to announce that, in addition to 100 percent of seniors in the Class of 2018 gaining admission to college, nearly 100 percent of these students matriculated to college. IDEA granted nine exceptions, supporting students who entered the armed forces, one religious exemption, and one health exemption. In total, 100 percent of graduates from the Class of 2018 gained admission to a 4-year college, with nearly 47 percent of students getting into the country’s top colleges.
We are also excited to share that 594 graduates from the Class of 2018 are first-generation college students. This class also received more than $46 million in scholarships and grants, and more than 1,500 acceptances to selective and highly selective colleges. Congratulations to our graduating class of 2018!
Since our first graduating class 12 years ago, IDEA has achieved a 100 percent college acceptance rate.

“Hitting nearly 100 percent college matriculation for the twelfth year in a row is a huge accomplishment for IDEA Public Schools and one that multiple people across the organization work hard to achieve every year,” said JoAnn Gama, IDEA Public Schools co-founder, president and superintendent. “This achievement could not have been possible without the dedication of our faculty, staff, families, and students.”

Take Marisol Melgoza, a College Counselor at IDEA Frontier College Preparatory. Marisol is elated for her students who matriculate into Tier 1 universities, with both admission and scholarship in hand. But she is just as happy, if not more so, for her students who struggled and persisted through academic challenges and succeeded in admission to a college of their choice. “Matriculation represents a new beginning for our students, especially for those who struggled or may not have gone to college without the support of IDEA. The possibilities are now endless for them,” says Marisol.
