Welcome back, Team & Family! Today, IDEA Southern Louisiana welcomes hundreds of students for their first day of school via virtual learning.
Earlier this week, IDEA Innovation and IDEA Bridge in Baton Rouge and IDEA Oscar Dunn in New Orleans hosted Back to School festive parades to distribute learning materials for students to engage in learning from home. The schools gave out items such as workbooks, textbooks, and a personal technology device through our 1:1 technology program that students will use throughout the school year to connect with classmates and their teacher.
IDEA is incredibly proud of the hard work our Southern Louisiana Team & Family has accomplished since launching its first region outside of Texas two years ago.
“We are proud of the hard work that our Southern Louisiana Team and Family has accomplished since we launched two years ago,” says JoAnn Gama, Co-Founder, CEO and Superintendent of IDEA Public Schools. “As we prepare for a new year of success and achievements, we recognize that it will be an unusual year, but IDEA’s keen focus on rigorous academics and high expectations for student learning will not change. We will continue to challenge our scholars to raise the bar on achievement as they work to and through college.”
IDEA Public Schools will continue to provide meals to all IDEA Southern Louisiana students via curbside meals. Parents can pick up breakfast and lunch in bundles for multiple days:
- On Mondays, parents can pick up meals for Monday and Tuesday
- On Wednesdays, parents can pick up meals for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
If you miss a Monday or Wednesday, don’t worry—we will still be providing meal pick up service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. All meals are served cold (for food safety) and will include heating instructions so your child can enjoy them later.
Meal pick-up times include Monday and Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.; and Tuesday, Thursday, Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Meals can be picked up at your closest IDEA campus. Just simply hold up your child’s IDEA student ID (preferred) or place by the front windshield as you pull up. Although an IDEA student ID badge is preferable, you may also show IDEA enrollment communications (examples include mailed letters or electronic registration confirmation, classroom assignments) as well.
Parents, we need your help in making this school year a great success. Remember, your child must sign into class, even virtually, to be counted “in attendance” for the school day.
Here’s to a wonderful first day of school and a safe and successful new school year, Southern Louisiana!
