Random Selection – During the Lottery, names will be selected at random using SchoolMint, an automated enrollment software system that is fair, transparent, and complies with data privacy regulations. When the capacity for each grade level is reached, remaining applications are assigned a position on our waiting list in a randomized order.

Lottery Timing – Lottery selection will run from 7am CT through 3pm CT. Selection will run for all schools and grade levels, across Austin, El Paso, Rio Grande Valley, Tarrant County, San Antonio, and Baton Rouge.

Offer Preference – Should you be offered a seat, offers are awarded in the order of your school preference. If you are not selected for your first preference school, placement priority will move to your second preference school. If you are not selected for your second preference school, placement priority will move to your third preference school.

Notification – When your school’s Lottery is complete, you will receive an immediate notification at your preferred method of contact (email and/or text message). And if you’ve accepted, we look forward to acclimating you to the Team & Family with campus events such as Orientation, Culture Camp, and Meet the Teacher. Your campus will provide dates and more information.

Accepting an Offer – In your notification email/text, you will be linked to your SchoolMint account to accept or decline your offer. When you accept your offer, all other applications will be removed from the system; for example, if you applied to IDEA Eastside and IDEA Carver in San Antonio and you receive and accept an offer at IDEA Eastside, your IDEA Carver application will be removed from the system.

Declining an Offer – If you choose not to accept your offer, you must decline in SchoolMint. Declining removes your applications from our system and awards the open seat to the next student on the selection list.

Withdrawal  If after applying you have decided IDEA is not for you and you’d like to not be considered in the Lottery, please withdraw your application.

We are so excited to welcome our new families to IDEA Public Schools for the 2019-20 school year! If you have any questions about lottery, please contact the campus to which you are accepted.
