What we do

IDEA embarked upon an expansion plan in 2012 with the goal to raise $70 million dollars by 2017.

This campaign supports educational programs and facilities as well as student scholarships for college. As of June 1, 2015, we had raised $52 million toward this goal. With your support, we plan to meet and exceed this goal by 2017.

We have recently hosted several events in the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio for community leaders, elected officials, and friends of IDEA seeking to increase awareness of our mission, boost community pride, and raise funds for college scholarships for our students and alumni.

In April, we hosted our annual Reach Higher Summit Dinner and Auction in McAllen, attended by more than 600 people. Fifty individuals and organizations helped underwrite the event at various sponsorship levels. All told, more than $300,000 were raised through the sale of tables and sponsorships as well as students' works of art.

In May, IDEA hosted the first annual San Antonio Luncheon at the Pearl Stable. The event honored David Robinson, founder of Carver Academy, IDEA board member, and NBA legend. More than 200 people attended the event, which raised $107,000 through individual gifts and tables and sponsorships. More than a dozen individuals and organizations helped underwrite the event and the proceeds will support the growth and expansion of IDEA in San Antonio.
