IDEA Public Schools' approach to education is focused on college preparation for all children.
Our elementary curriculum includes a hybrid learning model known as BetterIDEA, in which all elementary students participate. Our college prep curriculum focuses on college preparation across all subjects.
Beginning in third grade, IDEA students go on college field lessons. The trips can last as little as a day or as much as a week, taking students to college and university campuses, museums, and historical sites.
All IDEA students are on the college track participating in Advanced Placement courses. Our flagship campus, IDEA College Prep Donna, has received authorization from the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization to offer the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, which serve students in grades 6 to 12. Several other IDEA schools are candidates for IB authorization. Students attending schools that have been authorized to offer Diploma Programmes have the opportunity to graduate from high school with an IB diploma and 24 or more college hours.
Through the IDEA Public Schools employee giving campaign called Give Me Five, we actively support our students to go to and through college.
The IB Mission Statement:
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
